Over the past nine months of being a mom, I have learned how easy it is to entertain my little Luc, and while it is so easy to keep him occupied with new things to touch and feel, (and taste), I love finding new activities that we can enjoy together, as well as help with Luc’s development stages. Since he is basically a sponge and will absorb anything and everything right now, I found an awesome painting craft that is fun and is wonderful for his developing little mind.
I turned it into a mama-baby play date with Luc and some of this baby gal pals, and they LOVED it!
All you need is a blank canvas (whatever size you choose), water-based, non-toxic paint (I use Artist’s Loft, which is pretty inexpensive, about $2.99-$3.99 per tube at Michael’s Arts & Crafts or Hobby Lobby), and clear plastic cling wrap! I had some various paint brushes and brought them out, but we really did not use them, and then of course some big trash bags to place on the floor for us to sit on, although paint was all over by the end of the fun!
Once you have enough paint drops, then take the cling wrap and wrap around the canvas twice to cover the paint and stick to each end.
Set your little one down and let them explore the different textures, while making a beautiful, abstract painting for you to treasure and have a keepsake!
Of course, he got paint all over and we ended up in the blowup pool for a little clean-up and water fun!
Ultimately, here is Luc’s final result of this fun painting experience! It was such a fun afternoon, and I am now making a commitment to my son and myself to plan a NEW activity with him every week, to enjoy & capture beautiful memories, while helping to teach him about the world around him.
